IR1 (self-employed)
IR1 tax return for self-employed people and freelancers
The same IR1 form, but with an extra part for your business: what you invoiced, what you spent to earn it, and the profit left. If your turnover is above the audit limit, you also attach audited accounts.
Who needs it
Freelancers, sole traders and professionals who work for themselves in Cyprus.
When and where to file
Deadline: Usually 31 July of the following year; 31 March of the second following year if audited accounts are needed.
Where: Filed online through Tax For All (TFA).
Step by step
- 1Add up all invoices issued in the year (your turnover).
- 2List business expenses with receipts: rent, equipment, software, travel, accountant fees.
- 3Work out profit (turnover minus expenses) and capital allowances on equipment.
- 4Pay self-employed social insurance contributions quarterly during the year.
- 5Complete the IR1 business section and submit with the profit and loss summary.
